There used to be a time when I LOVED IKEA. I honestly just couldn't get enough of the swede's and their simple pieces that seemed to work so well in my life and then something just changed.
I couldn't stand going into an Ikea. I found the whole process of even having to go there painful and just wasn't finding anything I wanted or even liked. Occasionally we've visited an Ikea in Victoria when either a) tagging along with friends and we'd just grab an icecream or b) when we have money that we just don't want anymore and we want to get into an argument in a public space. Jaraad says Ikea is where relationships go to die and lately I tend to agree. So now our house has minimal ikea pieces which I'm in the process of replacing and the rest of our ikea has been sold off to make way for higher end interior pieces.
HOWEVER, Ikea is releasing some new products in February that have caught my attention...
Top Left: Risatorp basket - powder coated steel and clear lacquered birch veneer. I feel like this would be great thrown in the bathroom with some hand towels, under the bedsides with some reading materials or stashed on the bookshelf. Its neat and simple and I like that.
Top Right: Rimforsa tablet stand - ideal for the kitchen bench when cooking, this stand would get an excellent workout in my house.
Bottom Left: Nornas sideboard. I've never owned an Ikea expedit - I've seen them styled well but they just aren't for me. I do like this timber version though. The pieces are a little thinner which make it a less aggressive and obtrusive furniture piece whilst I can imagine the legs and base piece being painted a nice metallic . Ideal for a spare room or extra bedroom storage.
Bottom Right: NYMO Lamp shade - white powder coated steel and a copper interior - We have lovely freedom bedside lamps with white shade, we also have a copper bed which I ADORE. I feel like these might be a nice way to pull our copper bed into the furnishings of our room.
Do you like Ikea, or are you a bit like me and have fallen out of love recently? I'd love to hear what pieces you have in your house from Ikea!
