Hi Lovers, apologies for my lack of blogging as of late, I have been SO busy with work, a 4 day getaway to Sydney for a wedding (which Ja & I photographed), our friend Magnus moved down and is living with us, and just life in general! I don't want to stay away that long again though, so please accept my apologies and my hopeful promises to be better. I thought I'd get back into the swing of things by talking about what I did most recently: went to see the first H&M in Australia in the Melbourne GPO!
This store is in one word: Massive. It's split across three levels of a heritage listed building in the CBD and its simply stunning to be in. There are stairs that connect the levels and also escalators placed through the store. I lined up for just over an hour due to it being opening weekend but once getting inside the store was nowhere near as full as I had expected.
Womenswear is split up over two levels, kidswear, menswear and home are all on the third level. The homewares are beautiful but unfortunately the duvet covers only come in single and doubles. The price point is very similar to what I encountered in the USA, however some items such as leather and jackets are more expensive (the most expensive item I spotted store wide was $299 which was a leather biker jacket).
I grabbed myself a pair of Chelsea boots, a beanie, a linen tee and a small trinket container to pop my daily jewellery in but there is plenty more I'd love to go back for and I can see this becoming a regular haunt of mine. There are plenty of registers throughout so you won't be waiting in a huge line up to pay for any purchases and I spotted 4 exits on the ground floor (nothing worse than being in a massive store and struggling to find a way out!)
Where: Melbourne GPO - 350 Bourke Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
Mon - Wed 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Thu - Fri 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Sat 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Sun 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
1. Plan to have more time rather than less
2. Grab a shopping bag from near the door.
3. Go back through sections more than once, Staff seemed to be moving things around and I spotted plenty of new things in areas I'd been through previously!
4. Check out the range on the H&M Australia website - not everything is on there but its a great starting point!
