In my line of work, long weekends are few and far between. In fact it was Easter last year I was lucky enough to have 3 days off in a row! This time last year Ka and I hadn't started dating yet, however we spent the entire Easter together and were completely inseparable. One of the most memorable nights being dressed up as unicorns and playing with sparklers and cameras (I'll put a few pics up). It seems these days everyone has unicorn onesies, so we ditched the onesies and decided to adventure. Again we were inseparable for the weekend. We travelled great distances to see all sorts! On Friday we took a long drive down to Minyon falls, we did plan to do the trek but I wasn't feeling so great, I was riddled with hayfever! We took a nice drive through the mountains and the country all the way down to Lismore and Byron. We didn't account for the weather, when we arrived in Byron it was dark and bucketing down. Not ideal to stay there so we trekked back up to Brisbane.
The next day we caught up with a few friends for lunch at Yard Bird in the Valley. To be honest I wasn't so impressed. We ordered the BBQ buffalo wings and chilli cheese fries. The wings were coated in an overwhelming sauce that left a weird taste at the back of your throat and whilst the fries looked like they were bursting with flavour, the were quite bland. I'd be interested to try a few other things on their menu before making my final decision about the place. PJ's Steaks was what I was actually craving!
Later that night we headed north in search of stars. The light polluted cities weren't appealing after spending Friday in the cool, crisp, fresh country air. Unfortunately no stars were out, the moon was way too bright! So a long drive home! It was actually really nice to spend the weekend driving around, when you're stuck in a car with no reception all you can do is talk. Sunday we relaxed, tidied the house for a bit and went to visit Mum for a delicious Easter dinner! I'm sure Ka will agree when I say the food was absolutely devine!
Hope you all had a great Easter!
